How it works

Why it is not in the platform price

Platforms display the accommodation price and their own fees. The tourist tax is collected by the property during the stay, so it sits outside the displayed total.

This is why the final cost can exceed expectations, particularly for large groups and long stays, where the amount multiplies across people and nights.

Exemptions

Exempt categories are set by municipal regulation and vary between cities. They typically cover children below a certain age, some categories of accompanying adults, and stays beyond a maximum number of consecutive nights.

The qualifying age for children is the variable that differs most between municipalities, so it should be checked rather than assumed.

A note for business travellers
