Where to park in Chiaia if you arrive by car

Anyone arriving in Naples by car discovers quickly that the problem is not traffic, it is where to leave the vehicle for several days. Chiaia in particular, where residential density is high and streets are narrow.

Why street parking is not a plan

Paid street bays exist in Chiaia but are occupied at any hour. Anyone who finds one moves it daily and pays the hourly rate regardless. With luggage and a multi-night stay it costs time rather than saving money.

Free street parking in the inner roads barely exists, and in narrow side streets the risk of damage from other people’s manoeuvres is real.

Public garages in the area

They exist and they work, but with three limits that only surface once you are there.

Full daily rate. A week’s parking costs as much as a night’s accommodation.

Height limit. Most central garages carve spaces out of existing buildings with low ceilings. SUVs and people carriers are turned away more often than expected.

Walking distance. It is never at your door, and with suitcases three hundred metres matters.

Public garage or parking inside the property

These are different things. A public garage is a service bought by the day, with access hours and staff. Parking inside a residential building is part of the property: guests drive in and leave the car where they sleep.

The difference shows up in three places: cost per night, access without time restrictions, and vehicle size, because ramps in larger buildings are often more generous than retrofitted garages.
